Pearl Harbor Remembered at 70th Anniversary

Today, December 7, 2011, we remember the bombings that happened at Pearl Harbor 70 years ago today. About 120 survivors observed a moment of silence to remember the thousands who lost their lives from the Japanese attack.

Altogether, 3,000 people attended the event and President Barack Obama hailed Wednesday as "National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day."

"Their tenacity helped define the Greatest Generation and their valor fortified all who served during World War II. As a nation we look to December 7, 1941, to draw strength from the example set by these patriots and to honor all who have sacrificed for our freedoms, " he said.

The U.S. lost 12 vessels on December 7, 1941, but the Arizona and the Utah are the only ones still sitting in the harbor. They will always show and signify the valor and strength the Americans had on that awful day that occurred 70 years ago.

UK Shuts Down Iranian Embassy

After Iranian protesters attacked the British Embassy building in Tehran, Iran, Britain pulled out its officials from the capital of Iran and closed down the Iranian Embassy in London.

The hours long assault was reminiscent of the 1979 seizing of the U.S. American Embassy.

On Sunday, Iran's parliament approved a bill to downgrade relations with Britain.

With Iran's nuclear program underway, relations with Iran and most countries has become even more difficult.

Because of the latest attack on the British Embassy in the Iranian capital, a Norwegian government official decided to close its embassy in Tehran due to security concerns.

Hopefully relations with Iran will improve.

Occupy Sadler

On Tuesday, November 15, Texas Christian University emailed it's students informing them of the planned 6.5% tuition increase, sparking rage across campus. All over Twitter and Facebook, students were posting statuses and tweets stating how they cannot afford TCU already, and with the tuition increase, may cause them to have to leave TCU next school year.

With that, many students got together and planned through these social networking sites, to protest the tuition increase in front of Sadler, calling it "Occupy Sadler".

With the tuition increase here at TCU, only financial aid increases along with it at 6.5%. One of the biggest concerns though is that scholarships do not increase either, meaning students with scholarships will end up paying more.

Affording TCU is difficult, but hopefully the point of the students will come across at the protest at Sadler on Thursday, November 17.

Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce from Husband Kris Humphries

After just 72 days of marriage, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from her husband Kris Humphries on Halloween morning, October 31, 2011.

The reality-TV star stated in her released statement that, "After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," she said. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish eachother the best."

What makes this divorce more interesting is that Humphries was taken by surprise by the divorce. On Monday afternoon, he put out a statement through his representative saying, "I love my wife and am devestated to learn she filed for divorce."

"I am committed to this marriage and everything this covenent represents," he said. "I am willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."

I actually don't know whether to be surprised by this or if this was totally obvious, judging from their wedding special on E!. It looked like the couple loved eachother, but Kardashian was taking control over everything about Humphries, including where his dogs sleep, to what he wears at the wedding.

Are you surprised by the Kardashian-Humphries split?

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries Marriage Woes

Newlyweds Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries seem to have already hit a rocky path in their only two month marriage. To be honest, I feel like this is no surprise. After watching Kim and Kris' Wedding Special on E!, I don't know how Kris Humphries can put up with the Kardashians and how controlling their women are.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Kardashians and everything about them, especially how close-knit their family is, but Kim was a bridezilla and so was momager (mom & manager) Kris Jenner. They controlled every aspect of the wedding and didn't really clue in Humphries (the groom) on what was happening with the wedding arrangements. It only makes sense how these two have hit a rough patch in their marriage already.

Since their marriage two months ago, Kim and Kris haven't had much alone time or a honeymoon phase. They basically packed their stuff up after the wedding and flew to New York to film Kim and Kourtney Kardashian's "Kourtney and Kim Take New York", one of their many shows on the E!.

Hopefully this marriage works out, I love Kim Kardashian and how hard she has worked to keep up her business and her closeness with her family. Hopefully this rocky patch will mend itself and the two will work things out.

Lohan Back in Jail

Lindsay Lohan was taken into custody earlier today after her judge found issues with her probation. Lohan reportedly never attended her community service assignment at a women's shelter, which is one of the celebrity's many violations.

Judge Sautner set a Nov. 2 hearing to decide whether Lohan should return to jail.

It's hard to see this person as someone who was once the little girl on The Parent Trap. She now abuses drugs and seems to always be in-and-out of jail.
Will this be the last time Lohan has a run-in with the law, or will things begin to change?

Her bail has been set at $100,000.

Anderson Cooper's Rise Against Bullying

Anderson Cooper is hosting a week-long special that will show how bullying has affected teens and young kids throughout all of America. It will have celebrities sitting and listening to children and teenagers about how they get bullied and the hardships they face throughout their everyday life.

The celebrities and Anderson in turn give the kids and teens words of advice and tell them that they aren't hated, and that they are loved by many.

I really believe that this week-long program against bullying will open people's eyes to what is happened to their kids and talk to their kids about bullying and try and put a stop to it.

No one should be demeaned or bullied.

Set Boundaries. Do not let anyone demean, define, or belittle you. You are a good person and deserve the best in life. Stop bullying.

Tune into Bullying: It Stops Here special hosted by Anderson Cooper all this week at 8 and 10 p.m.

Amanda Knox Returns to America a Free Woman

(pictured above: Amanda Knox)

On November 6, 2007, Amanda Knox and, then boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito were arrested on charges of sexual assault and murdering Knox's roommate, Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy.

After almost four years of the most watched murder trial in Italy, Knox was freed of all charges of murdering and/or sexually molesting roommate, Kercher.
(Pictured above: Meredith Kercher)
Many feel like this is another case similar to the Casey Anthony trial that happened over summer, where someone that most people thought and knew was guilty, ended up free.

Knox headed back to the United States on Tuesday, October 4, returning to her home in Seattle, Washington.

Do you all think this is another repeat of the Casey Anthony trial?
Is Amanda Knox really innocent of murdering her roommate?

Nancy Grace Nip-Slip on DWTS!!

On Monday night's Dancing with the Stars, Nancy Grace had a slight wardrobe malfunction, with her breast being flashed on national television.

As embarrassed as she was, Grace explained to Access Hollywood,"I was not flashing anybody. I think that when I did that backwards thing, there was a seismic shift, but I do not think there was a wardrobe malfunction."

Rumors began to spread quickly that she made this "accident" happen to gain votes from the panel. "Believe me, that is not what I want my twins to read on the internet in two or three years when they can finally read. 'Mommy flashed the judges to get an 8.'"the HLN host said.

After the accident, Grace tweeted Tuesday a picture of her and a package of skin toned breast petals. (shown below).

Do you think Nancy Grace had a wardrobe malfunction?

American Hikers Freed from Iranian Prison on $1 Million Bail

(Shane Bauer, left; Josh Fattal, right)

The two American hikers, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, were freed from Iranian prison Wednesday September 21,2011 on a $1 million bail. They were sent to jail for over two years on charges of spying along the Iran/Iraq border.

Today, Bauer and Fattal were sent to the Iranian International Airport and sent to the Gulf state of Oman.

According to the Iranian State News Agency, IRNA, Bauer and Fattal were released just as darkness fell in the capital Tehran.

The news of their freedom is wonderful and I am so happy to hear that they will be back with their families today.

The Fray & Tim Halperin

This past weekend at TCU, we had a crazy performance by non other than our recent TCU alumni and American Idol finalist Tim Halperin and the very well-known The Fray. I cannot say that I have been to a better performance, they sounded so good live that it was unbelievable. They sounded just like they do in their CDs. My friends and I were front row and got a perfect view of the whole concert.
Tim Halperin opened for The Fray and began singing some of the many songs that will be on his upcoming album, coming out on September 20, 2011. My favorite had to have been The Last Song, it was so cute and he sang it so well. He truly has a wonderful voice!
The Fray is hands-down, one of my favorite bands and has been since their first song came out my freshman year of high school, "How to Save a Life". It was literally the only song I listened to that year and I remember driving everyone around me crazy for replaying that song. When they began playing that song at the concert, it became a flashback to my freshman year of high school and all the memories came rushing back!
It's crazy how music can remind you of past memories.

Kylie Jenner Working the Runway

The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan has now marked her debut in modeling. Kylie Jenner strutted her stuff in Avril Levigne's fashion show for her fashion line, Abbey Dawn. The 14-year-old, 5'9'' beauty rose to fame in the hit reality show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, where her and her sister Kendall Jenner are Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian's half sisters.
Her half-brother, Brody Jenner, is currently dating Avril Levigne and watched his little sister Kylie work the runway along with Kim and Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner.
According to omg news, Brody wrote, "She looked beautiful and was such a natural. Proud to be her brother."

What do you think of Kylie Jenner making it to runway?

American Hikers Set to be Released Soon

(Shane Bauer, left, & Josh Fattal, right.)

American hikers Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, whom were captured by Iranian police on espionage back in July 2009 for hiking along the Iran-Iraq border, could be freed soon according to Iranian President Ahmadinejad.
After being charged with espionage, a court has set bail of $500,000 each.
Around this time last year, the third American hiker Sarah Shourd, was released from the Iranian prison and sent back to the U.S.
They have said that Bauer and Fattal should be released in two days. Hopefully the two American hikers will be set free in the next two days so they can come back home and see their families.

Casey Anthony found NOT GUILTY of murdering her two year old girl, Caylee Anthony.

Photo 1. (pictured above): Defendant Casey Anthony

Many of us have been captivated by this trial since it began in May 9 of this summer and until the surprise ending five days ago on July 5. Casey Anthony was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer, for the case of her murdered two year old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony.
Photo 2. (Pictured above): Caylee Marie Anthony.

Caylee Marie Anthony was missing for a whopping 31 days before reported missing to the police by her grandmother, Cindy Anthony. After repeatedly given excuses to by daughter Casey Anthony of her whereabouts, Cindy Anthony took action by paying a surprise visit to Casey and demanding to know where baby Caylee was. During those 31 days that baby Caylee was missing, mother Casey Anthony was hanging out with then boyfriend, Tony Lazarro, attending clubs and a "Hot-Body Contest", and getting a "Bella Vita" tattoo, meaning "Beautiful Life" in Italian. Beautiful life? Really?
Casey repeatedly told her mother Cindy, as she was on the phone with a 9-1-1 dispatcher, that she was looking for Caylee on her own since she was kidnapped by nanny, Zenaida Gonzalez, whom never existed. She later changed her story and said that baby Caylee drowned in her backyard, above-ground pool and that her father, George Anthony had something to do with hiding the body. She threw her own father under the bus! She changed her story right after she took police to her former place of work at Universal Studios, where she was fired years before! She took them down the hallway, then turned around and admitted she no longer works there anymore. Casey Anthony is a patholigical liar.
When you hear all these different stories of what happened to her baby girl, what do you think? Guilty or Not Guilty of murder? I sure think Guilty, but the 12 jurors thought differently.
Casey Anthony was found NOT GUILTY of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and  aggravated manslaughter of a child. She was only found GUILTY on four counts of lying to law enforcement. Chief judge in Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit, Judge Belvin Perry, Jr. gave Casey four years in prison for lying to law enforcement and a fine of $1,000 for each count. BUT she is receiving credit for her three years already spent in jail AND because of her good behavior, meaning she will be a free woman this Sunday, July 27, 2011.
I find this outrageous. What do you all think about the turnout of this case?

RIP Caylee Marie Anthony

"I Prince William, take thee Catherine Middleton.."

The deeds been done, the Royal Wedding that is..

Prince William of England and Kate Middleton said their vows on April 29,2011 in the public eye of millions of people around the world! Kate looked stunning her in dress that was a variation of Grace Kelly's wedding dress, but a bit more modernized.

I didn't get to see the wedding because I overslept, but I did see the moment they stepped onto the balcony to show the world their first kiss as a married couple. It was such an amazing moment as people were chanting "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!". They gave two kisses to the crowd and waved to the crowd before they went back inside for the reception that soon followed.

All in all, it was a beautiful wedding from the millions of re-runs I saw that day!
May they have a wonderful life! <3

P.S. There's one more prince... ;)

Osama Bin Laden DEAD!

Osama Bin Laden (Pictured above) was shot and killed on May 2, 2011 (May 1 in our time standard) in Abbottabad, Pakistan by one of six U.S. Navy Seals who were on a secret mission, by orders of Commander and Chief of the U.S. Army President Barack Obama, to capture or kill the world's most wanted terrorist.

Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centers in New York City back in 2001 in addition to attacks on the Pentagon and Flight 93.

On, March 1st (Pakistani time), President Obama authorized the raid "Operation Neptune Spear", on the compound where Osama Bin Laden was living in. On May 2, 2011 (Pakistani time), a helicopter landed in the compound, where Osama Bin Laden was known to have lived in since February (from a source inside the compound), and six U.S. Navy Seals went in on the attack to capture or kill the terrorist.

The raid was successful and as a result, the most wanted terrorist was killed. The death of Osama Bin Laden certainly brought closure to many families who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks or in the wars that were brought on from 9/11.

May 2, 2011 is definitely a day to remember.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Actress, and now, Singer

Many are still trying to get used to the fact that Ms. Gwyneth Paltrow is now singing, and most famously in the hit show Glee and her latest movie Country Strong! Many of us now know her as Holly Holiday from Glee and how she's the crazy, care-free substitute that is seems to be teaching the young gleeks on the show all the wrong things. Her first song on the show was "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green and it was amazing! I had that song stuck in my head for weeks!

When she came back on another episode called "Sexy", she became the new sex-ed teacher and taught the glee kids a few things about being sexy in singing! She sang "Do You Wanna Touch", which became my favorite song out of the whole episode and then had become Mr. Schuester's new love-match!

I'm hoping that means more Holly Holiday on the Glee campus!

Sheen's tour, Winning or Losing?

Charlie Sheen, the man we all know and love from the hit sitcom Two and a Half Men, is on his tour "Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option". Some may say he's taking his "craziness" a little too far with this tour, but many people are in some ways excited because they enjoy the crazy things he says! Hence, why his show is sold out!

His first stop on his tour was Detroit, Michigan..and well, let's just say that didn't end well! Sheen was booed towards the end of the show and most of the audience got up to leave before it ended!
Many people left saying "Duh, LOSING!".. but not so fast..

Sheen proved himself better at his next stop in Cleveland where the crowd was already on Sheen's side before he even stepped out on stage! They were all chanting "Detroit Sucks!" for his opening performance of his tour in Detroit where he was booed! So, "Duh, WINNING!"

Tsunami in Japan

A Before and After photo of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011.

Thousands are dead and thousands more are missing in Japan after a devastating tsunami hit the northeast coast of Japan on Friday, March 11. The 9.0 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Sendai, Japan triggered the tsunami that left the northeast coast of Japan crippled and no longer recognizable.

Today, about two weeks after the quake and tsunami, we see problems at the Fukashima plant in Fukashima, Japan. All four reactors had been damaged by the quake and tsunami, and to make matters worse, they have blown up as well. Radiation is being emitted from the nuclear plant and anyone within twelve miles of the plant is being seriously affected by it, as well as food and water.

To donate money in helping the people of Japan, please follow this link:

Justin Biebs and Selena Gomez a COUPLE!!

Cutest Couple of 2011 ALERT! Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are in fact a couple! They both stepped out together at the Oscars and have been caught holding hands several times!
Aren't they cute?
Sorry ladies, the Biebs is taken. The buzz is about their ages though. Selena is 18 and Justin is 16, turning 17 this year. Is age a big deal? If you ask me, age is only a number, these two seem to have chemistry and are cute together! They are each other's best friend! :)

What are your views on them together?

Aniston & Sandler Make a Great Duo!

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler did a phenomenal job in their latest movie, "Just Go With It". Aniston plays Sandler's secretary in his doctor office, where he is a well renowned plastic surgeon. Having walked away from his wedding years before, he kept the wedding ring to make women feel bad for him, and thus got them to go home with him..
Aniston comes into the picture when Sandler's character meets Brooklyn Decker, who is his crush and finds his wedding ring. Sandler then says he is divorcing his "wife" which would be Aniston's character. So they basically just fake their "divorce" to prove this lie to Decker.
I did not stop laughing through this whole movie. Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler have amazing chemistry and it is well worth watching! I definitely recommend this to everyone!! :)

"Hold It Against Me"

Its about time Britney came back with a new song and music video. The 29 year old pop princess, debuted her music video Friday February 18th and had many different views from fans. Many liked it and many thought she was just awkward in her video and she could have done better.

Personally, I thought she was a knockout! She has made a great comeback and kicked ass in her music video, literally! It was different and thats what I liked about it. I loved how she had TVs with her old music videos playing on it. It was unique!

In addition to her music video debut of "Hold It Against Me", she might drop another single before her album Femme Fatale comes out on March 29. She has already leaked a 15 second clip of the song "Inside Out" that has people crazy over hearing the whole thing. Not gonna lie, but I listened to that clip for about 10 minutes over and over again. I can't wait till' it comes out!

So what are your thoughts on her new music video?
Excited for her new single/album?

Libya Joins the Waves of Protests in the Middle East

Libya has now joined the wave of protests in the Middle East, and its a violent one too. President Gadhafi, who has reigned over Libya for a whopping 42 years, is refusing to leave. Protests in Libya have become violent and many people have been injured or have been killed. Libya has turned into chaos.

It's time for democracy in ALL of the Middle Eastern countries, and one-by-one, this will happen. Our thoughts and prayers go out for all the Libyans who are fighting for their freedom, and fighting for what they deserve.

Friend or Dad?

Recently, Billy Ray lashed out at his daughter Miley Cyrus,18, in his new controversial talk with GQ magazine since Miley's little bong incident. Once her "best friend", Billy Ray is now deciding that the role of "daddy" is time to come in! The February 22nd issue of GQ magazine quoted Billy Ray Cyrus saying that "he wished the show that launched his daughter to pop stardom had never happened."

He even admits that he "should have been a better parent". At least he's honest, but you still feel bad for the guy, who also filed for divorce in October 2010 with his wife Tish Cyrus.

When the one-hit-wonder was asked about taking all the fame back, he replied saying, "I hate to say it, but yes, I do. Yeah. I'd take it back in a second," Cyrus said. "For my family to be here and just be everybody OK, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I'd erase it all in a second if I could."

Support Iran!

Today, February 14,2011 marked the 32nd anniversary of the Iranian Revolution and tens of thousands of people took the streets in protests against the government. Many were screaming out "Death to the Dictators", but were beaten as the basijis came through. Police were throwing tear gas at the crowd to disperse them and have apparently arrested more than two dozen people from the streets.

This is hopefully the year that the Iranian people will overthrow these animals who call themselves "leaders". They are dictators and should all be banished from Iranian soil. These mullahs kill innocent people everyday by stoning and hangings for crimes they did not commit. The picture above gives a fact saying "Iran executes 1 person every 8 hours". No wonder Iran has one of the highest execution rates in the world!

So please, support Iran in getting rid of their government!

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards

Tonight was the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards and it was nothing short of amazing! Many performers were there, including Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and the list goes on. We saw many wacky outfits coming in on the red carpet and Lady Gaga making her entrance inside an egg. At the beginning of her performance of her new single "Born This Way", Gaga basically "hatched" out of her egg and made her grand, unique entrance onto the stage.

Among her were other performers like Mumford and Sons who sang "The Cave" and sound amazing live, Bruno Mars who sang a new rendition of his song "Grenade" (not the Jersey Shore kind of grenade!!) which was beautiful, and Ce-lo featuring Gweneth Paltrow performed the song "Forget You", which easily became my favorite performance of the whole show! All in all, the show was PERFECT

So if you watched the Grammys, what was your favorite part of this years show?

Lohan Court Attire Inappropriate?

You would think that after leaving jail not too long ago that Lindsay would have learned her lesson by now. WRONG. The young star, 24, on her way to court in that cute, but highly inappropriate for court outfit, is getting ready to most likely face another year in prison. Lohan was recently accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice,California jewelry store. I thought she's rich already? Why would she need to steal a necklace?
So far, she's DEFINITELY NOT making a good impression. She stole after being let out of prison for less than a year and wore this outrageous outfit that is not suitable for court. Will Lohan learn her lesson this time around??

Another Green Movement?

For anyone who doesn't know what the Green Movement is, it was the recent uprising in Iran during the summer of 2009 after the rigged presidential elections where Ahmadinejad was picked over the more popular Moussavi.
February 14 is the day that Mehdi Karroubi and Mir Hosein Moussavi decided they should hold an opposition rally to support what is happening in the Middle East with Egypt and Tunisia. It is an important day for many Iranians and it is the day that many will want to come out onto the streets to protest against the Iranian government. With everything that has happened in Egypt and Tunisia, Iranian officials have already warned against the opposition movement that severe consequences will be followed if people pour into the streets to protest.

The Iranian government has already blocked searches that have any terms that have to do with Monday's rally planning, mainly the word "Bahman 25" which means Feb. 14. Hopefully the Iranian people will come out to protest, as they have many other Middle Eastern countries now on their side following them and hoping the best as they all did for Egypt, and overthrow this awful, authoritarian government.

Kim K's Bazaar Mag Photoshoot

Since her problems with W Magazine for publishing her nude photo, Kim Kardashian is now on the cover of Bazaar Magazine looking just as beautiful as always. The curvaceous Armenian starlet made the cover of the magazine and also sported out the Egyptian look inside.

The 30 year-old reality star stated that she wanted to follow her idol, Elizabeth Taylor, and even had a chance to speak with her! According to popsugar.com, Kim K talks about her own ambitions, gaining weight while filming her show "Kourtney and Kim Take New York", and her upcoming collaboration with Kanye West! So catch Kim as Cleopatra in Harper's Bazaar, coming out this March!

Mubarak Steps Down!!

(Photo taken from Huffingtonpost.com)

Today, February 11, 2011 marks an important day in Egyptian history. After 18 days of protests, today is the day that they overthrew their dictator Hosni Mubarak and received their freedom. Celebrations have taken the streets since this morning when the president stepped down from his 30 year reign. Chants are heard saying "Egypt is free." and the streets are still full of people celebrating with fireworks and dancing.
Last night, now ex-President Hosni Mubarak, stated he was not going to step down, but to hand most of his powers to his VP. This enraged the protesters who thought that his speech was going to be of him stepping down. After the protests grew and became more violent, he decided it was time to step down.
Now the military is in control, under American supervision of course for they don't want a repeat of what happened in Iran after their revolution in 1979. This is truly an exciting day for Egypt and its people who have never been free. Today is the beginning of their freedom and democracy!

Gaga's BACK!

It feels like it has been forever since Lady Gaga came out with a new single or even made some sort of debut since her winning a staggering 8 awards at the VMAs last September. Well now she's back, with a new cover for Vogue Magazine and a new single coming out tomorrow, Friday February 11! Personally, I have never been more excited! She has some of the most unique music and unique styles that makes her stand out from the rest. She always has something new to offer that makes her the most interesting celeb or artist out there!
This Sunday, she will be performing at the Grammy's and is one of the top favorite performers of the event alongside other stars like Eminem and Christina Aguilera. I wonder what crazy outfit she will be wearing this weekend? I know I'll be watching!

Mubarak Refuses to Leave

This afternoon, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak announced that he will not be leaving Egypt OR stepping down as leader of Egypt. He instead will be handing over some of his powers to the vice president.  One would think that after the amount of protests and number of businesses that have been closed, that it would dawn on him that its time for him to leave. This man is obviously power hungry, I mean he has been leading this country for 30 years!

Everyone, including Americans and even our own President Obama, believed that he was going to announce his resignation as President of Egypt. Before his speech, people began their celebration believing that he was truly going to step down. After receiving the bad news though, this sparked big riots and outcries. If you ask me, seems like Mubarak just signed his death-sentence. The opposition rally is already marching towards the palace and camping outside as close as they can get until the morning hours. These people are angry and have every right to be. They all have the right to democracy and the right to choose their own government.

So will the opposition rally become more violent now that they have been tricked? Was this announcement by Mubarak the spark to rising these rallies more than ever? Let's just say tomorrow's rally will be HUGE. It's time for change.

Disney star Miley Cyrus talks in Marie Claire After her Bong Incident

She's back, and with some apologies along with her. Miley Cyrus, 18, was recently seen on the front cover of Marie Claire magazine after being AWOL for her bong incident. The young starlet who recently dawned a new tat on her side, which already has people and parents talking, has issued her apology to all in Marie Claire, (which will hit newsstands February 15).
"What I never wanted was for my fans to feel like I betrayed them...to feel like I was something, then turned around and was something that I'm not. But I've never, ever claimed to be perfect. I mean, since I've started the show, I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that is one of the reasons why people relate to me. Why kids relate to me." (This quote was taken from Yahoo's OMG News.)
Miley, whose parents Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus filed for divorce last year, has had a tough year with the whole bong incident, her scandalous 18th party, and the debut of her "Can't Be Tamed" music video (which caused many to argue about her trying to grow up too fast and split for her Disney past and also about how inappropriate it was). So is America ready to forgive the young star, or is she going to have to do more to prove herself in 2011?

Turmoil in Egypt

The uprising in Egypt is on its 16th day now and President Hosni Mubarak is refusing to leave. According to CNN, the president of Egypt has stated that he has refused to step down but has "rebuilt" a new Cabinet and promises he would not run for re-election. Why you ask have I put the word "rebuilt" in quotes? Well simple, what would make Mubarak changing a couple of people up any different? He picked, not the people, so how would we know those people are even any better?
I believe these countries like Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, and Jordan have all began something great that can change all the extreme Islamic countries in the Middle East. They all have a chance at DEMOCRACY. Being from Persian/Iranian descent, I am also hoping the same thing can happen for Iran, even though Iran's government is tougher than the other countries. The difference now, I think, is that Iranians have seen what it truly takes to get rid of a pompous, oppressive government like theirs. They cannot leave the streets until they get what they want.
I feel like that was the mistake made back in June 2009 after the rigged elections during the Green Movement. At the same time though, Iran faces a harsher government whom will kill anyone who stands in their way. Many young teenagers, for example, never made it back home after protests or were taken by government/police officials, who told the families of the victims that they had "disappeared".
Its time for change in these countries and hopefully these protests will continue in the Middle East and spark several more in countries like Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and many more.
